Associate Professor in the Department of International Relations at the Autonomous University of Lisbon, where he coordinates the undergraduate degree programme in International Relations. He is also an integrated researcher at the Portuguese Institute of International Relations of the New University of Lisbon (IPRI-NOVA).

His research interests centre on the formulation of the foreign policies of Brazil, China and the European Union.
